Bitmap + Tesserae series prints were created between 2006-11 by printing layers of 16”x20” intaglio and relief plates in oil-based inks and in varying rotational orders; the prints were then finished with hand coloring; the inking, layering and hand work making each piece unique though related to other pieces in a series by the common matrixes and marks; the initial inspiration for the plates was to explore the process of mapping bits of information in both the ancient and modern visual world.
