Analog Landscape

various sizes + media

2004-present

Analog Landscape pieces were created between 2004 - 2019 using oil paint, Sennelier inks, acrylic, colored pencils, monotype, intaglio and collage. Analog landscape work is critical to keeping my hand and eye connected. When working in remote and beautiful spaces, it feels essential to draw and paint from what I see; this helps me to look closely and understand a subject.  When working in these natural spaces, I also take photographs; back in the studio, the digital photos are explored, evolving into the starting place for the Digital Landscape series. The Digital and Analog Landscape series have a symbiotic connection; though seemingly unrelated, they often originate from the very same spots.
